Apple Pay arrives in Malaysia

Apple Pay arrives in Malaysia thumbnail

Finally, after 8 years of its existence, iPhone users in Malaysia can finally use Apple Pay on their devices starting today, where you will be able to make payment with your debit and credit card by just tapping your iPhone on an NFC enabled payment terminal, and also use it on supported apps and Safari.

Malaysia is the ninth Southeast Asian country that Apple has implement Apple Pay, while our neighbor Singapore had it since 2016, so it definitely took Apple quite a while to launch it here to compete directly with Samsung Pay, which the latter has been here since 2017.

According to our friends at Lowyat.NET, Apple Pay can already be enabled on Maybank Credit Cards at this time of writing, but we should also expect several other major banks to follow suit in the next few days, which we can safely assume is similar to Samsung Pay and include Ambank, CIMB Bank, Public Bank, RHB Bank, HSBC, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank.

No software update is required to enable Apple Pay in Malaysia, as you will only need to enter your credit or debit card number and follow the steps to activate it on your phone, and all you need to do is to double tap on your power button to pull up your wallet on your phone screen when you want to make a payment thereafter.

Are you excited for Apple Pay?
