Bert & Bertie (“Hawkeye,” “Our Flag Means Death”) are in negotiations to direct a feature film adaptation of the “Big Thunder Mountain” mine cart ride attraction at Disneyland.
LuckyChap Entertainment and Scott Free are backing the project with Kieran and Michele Mulroney writing the script for the film. Plot details are unknown at this time beyond it being inspired by the 1979 ride set in a mining town where gold is discovered.
Disney has had some success in this field with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, and more recently “Jungle Cruise”. A new take on “The Haunted Mansion” is also on the way.
