Arrow McLaren teams with streetwear brand for new Indy look
McLaren cares so much about appearance that the team missed track time before its bungled 2019 Indianapolis 500 attempt because the car’s paint scheme didn’t precisely match its signature papaya orange shade. The team collaborated with high-end streetwear brand Undefeated for the Indianapolis 500 car that Felix Rosenqvist will be driving Tuesday for Arrow McLaren SP when preparations begin at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Cycling-Lafay wins stage eight of Giro d’Italia as Ewan abandons race
Frenchman Lafay, 25, was among a group of nine in the breakaway on the final climb of the 170km stage and held off a late surge from Eolo-Kometa’s Francesco Gavazzi who finished second with Team DSM’s Nikias Arndt third. “I spent a lot of energy already in the first part of the stage to get into the breakaway,” Lafay said. Groupama-FDJ’s Attila Valter retained the leader’s pink jersey with none of the general classification contenders losing time as they crossed the line in the same group.

Golf-Resurgent McIlroy hopes return to Kiawah snaps major drought
Rory McIlroy, fresh off a drought-busting win, is considered by many to be the man to beat in this week’s PGA Championship at Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course in South Carolina where he romped to an eight-shot victory in the same major nine years ago. The Ocean Course, which boasts the most seaside holes in the Northern Hemisphere, may appear serene given its scenic vistas but it exposes golfers to often strong winds and this week will play as the longest major in history at 7,876 yards. Northern Irishman McIlroy, one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour, snapped an 18-month dry spell with his victory eight days ago at Quail Hollow to signal that his game is finally in strong form right in time for the year’s second major.

LeVert to miss Pacers’ play-in game against Hornets
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The short-handed Indiana Pacers will be down at least one more player for Tuesday night’s play-in game against the Charlotte Hornets after forward Caris LeVert entered the league’s health and safety protocol. Team officials made the announcement about five hours before tipoff and a day after coach Nate Bjorkgren said LeVert was feeling better and was expected to play after missing the second half of Sunday’s victory over Toronto with a migraine headache. LeVert had surgery earlier this year to remove a cancerous growth in his kidney after being acquired in a January trade with Brooklyn and Bjorkgren said he could not confirm whether LeVert would be required to miss 10 to 14 days.

Anthony Joshua in war of words with Tyson Fury over Deontay Wilder rematch
Anthony Joshua and British rival Tyson Fury were engaged in a bitter war of words on Wednesday evening after it appeared their proposed heavyweight showdown in Saudi Arabia in August would be postponed. Fury has suggested he has no alternative but to face Deontay Wilder for a third time after an arbitration hearing in the US sided with the American fighter’s claim that the “trilogy” contest is a contractual obligation. Joshua said Fury was trying to back out of their eagerly-awaited contest, which would have unified all of the belts in the division, while Fury suggested they should settle their differences with a bare-knuckle contest. “Tyson Fury … the world now sees you for the fraud you are,” said Joshua. “You’ve let boxing down. “You lied to the fans and led them on. Used my name for clout not a fight. Bring me any championship fighter who can handle their business correctly.” His outburst provoked an immediate response from Fury, who effectively confirmed the Saudi bout just hours before the seemingly unexpected US ruling this week.
