Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka from Odisha’s Koraput constituency on Monday raised the issue of the recent alleged police excess and brutal lathi charge on protesting student Congress activists in Bhubaneswar in the Parliament.
Ulaka took to his twitter handle to inform about his call in the Lower House of the Parliament in which he vented his dissatisfaction over the state of affairs in the law and order situation in Odisha under the rule of Biju Janata Dal.
Targeting the BJD government, parliamentarian Ulaka also raised the sensational murder cases of Mamita Meher, BJP’s former Mahanga block chairman Kulamani Baral and his associate apart from tabling other cases of crimes against women most notably related to Itishree, Bebina and Pari before the Parliament.
He raised concerns over alleged involvement of several ministers in criminal cases in the past and levelled allegations that Odisha government has shockingly turned a blind eye to all this.
The MP also attracted the attention of the House over the recent face-off between the Congress workers and police at Lower PMG during which several party workers were allegedly thrashed by cops.
Calling the incident as sheer brutality, Ulaka demanded judicial probe into the police oppression against NSUI students’ peaceful protest and rally. He also called for slapping of Section 307 of IPC against the erring police officers for launching attack on party members inside State Congress headquarters and compensation to the injured activists.
