Ben Foster has predicted that Liverpool will not get top 4 at the end of the season, after their 3-1 defeat to Brentford.
Several fans and pundits alike would be inclined to agree with Foster they Jurgen Klopp and Co. will miss out on top 4, as they were horrendous against Thomas Frank’s side.
For starters, the defending from corners for Liverpool was worryingly poor against Brentford.
If a couple of goals were not disallowed, the Bees would have walked away with at least 5 to 6 goals against last year’s Champions League finalists.
While Ibrahima Konate was misfortunate when it came to conceding the own goal, the defending from Liverpool to ensure it does not strike Ben Mee first from the corner was disappointing against Brentford.
Even for Yoane Wissa’s headed strike, Harvey Elliott’s strange dummy, which led to the initial turnover before the Reds were outnumbered in the box was schoolboy defending.
Yes, Liverpool came back with an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain header in the 2nd half, courtesy of a peach of a delivery from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
But Liverpool folded yet again, as Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo bullied Ibrahima Konate for their 3rd goal of the night.
And now Foster does not back Jurgen Klopp’s men to get top 4.

Ben Foster says Liverpool will miss out on top 4
Ben Foster has made the bold prediction that Liverpool will miss out on top 4, after their shambolic defeat to Brentford.
“I don’t think you’re getting Liverpool [in the top 4] in there, full stop at the minute. Mate, I really, really don’t.”
“I watched them the other day, they were the first game of the gameweek against Brentford. Brentford pretty much battered them, you know.”
“I think they had 3 goals disallowed in the 1st half”, Foster said on his YouTube channel.
Liverpool have a huge task on their hands to get Champions League football
While Arsenal and Manchester City are virtually guaranteed a spot in the Champions League, the remaining 2 spots are up for grabs.
With Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side looking like a class act and Newcastle flying under Eddie Howe, Ben Foster may well be right about Liverpool potentially missing out on top 4.
Plus, Tottenham have a brilliant front 3 as well, which puts Liverpool in the most danger alongside Chelsea to finish outside the Champions League places.
