Filming is well underway in western New South Wales on George Miller’s high-anticipated “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel “Furiosa”.
Anya Taylor-Joy leads the cast as a younger version of Charlize Theron’s character from the originals and is joined by Chris Hemsworth in an undisclosed major role.
Today, a new synopsis has emerged via Collider for the film which offers some details as to where the movie sits in the overall saga:
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Hemsworth was reportedly set for the villain role which suggests he could be playing that biker tribe leader Dementus, but not necessarily. Tom Burke and Angus Sampson co-star with Burke having replaced Yahya Abdul-Mateen II who exited over scheduling issues.
“Furiosa” is currently targeting a May 24th 2024 release.
