Meh. That was a doable landing for the bike if he’d had more practce and experience. You can absorb a huge amount of vertical compression with your legs if you drop like it’s a downhill bike. Would have probably still dented a rim, but might have been okay to continue his escape.
I think he just didn’t know the stairs were there and couldn’t pull off.
The truck was always going to get fucked, but bikes can do a lot more given the change to the CoG the rider can affect.
