Last Thursday evening, New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, also known as The Center, hosted its glamorous annual gala, also known as The Center Dinner, at Cipriani Wall Street for the first time since 2019.
The night lured over 700 guests, who helped raise an incredible $1.8 million dollars to support the organization which was established in 1983 during the AIDS crisis and has been dedicated to the LGBTQ community ever since.
The night honored three individuals: Scott Miller and Tim Gill (with the Edie Windsor Trailblazer Award) and Cecilia Gentili (with the Visibility Award and Bank of America with the Corporate Impact Award). Among the guests in attendance was Kathy Hochul, Governor of New York State. “This is what New York is all about,” she told her audience. “We embrace each other. We embrace our individuality and it’s so good to know that the work of this organization continued on through the pandemic…I’m so proud to be here tonight as an ally and as a supporter.”
