They had killed Kilbride (age 12), Bennett (age 12), Reade (age16), and Downey (age 10). The investigation found that the four children were first assaulted before being murdered. The dead bodies of the children were later buried. Brady and Hindley were known to spend days at the moors while taking pictures of each other.

The couple was later caught after killing a 17-year-old boy, Edward Evans. They killed the young boy with an axe while Myra’s brother-in-law was in the room. The brother-in-law later reported the incident to the police, which led to discovering their murders. Initially, they pleaded not guilty to all the charges but later, the couple was sentenced to life imprisonment. In the 1990s, the couple admitted to their crime, and the police recovered the mummified remains of one Pauline Reade. Brady died in prison in 2017 and Hindley in 2002.
