One hospitalized, one in custody after Sunday shooting in Aurora

Aurora officers detained a 19-year-old for questioning after a Sunday afternoon shooting hospitalized a man.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 24600 block of East Applewood Drive around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, the Aurora Police Department said in a statement on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

Paramedics transported the adult, male victim to the hospital, and Aurora officers took the 19-year-old “person of interest” into custody for questioning.

According to the police department’s statement, the 19-year-old and the victim knew each other and there is no immediate threat to the general public.
