Beat the Streak is back for the 2022 season — and the $5.6 million prize is still up for grabs.
The idea is simple — pick one player (or two) every day who you think will get a hit. The objective — surpass Joe DiMaggio’s record-long 56-game hitting streak — is a bit more challenging.

Ian Happ, Cubs (at Nationals)
Patrick Corbin is back after the Nats skipped his last start, which is good news for Happ. The switch-hitter has been much better against lefties this season (.333 batting average, .870 OPS in 101 plate appearances), and the southpaw Corbin has a 7.02 ERA and has allowed a Major League-high 161 hits and 86 earned runs this season.
José Ramírez (vs. Tigers)
Ramírez is batting .294 with a .934 OPS against right-handers this season, and the one he’s facing Tuesday, Garrett Hill, has a 4.66 ERA and only 18 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings over his seven starts this season.
Alec Bohm (at Reds)
Bohm entered Tuesday batting .341 since the start of July, and he hit safely in 28 of his 33 games over that time. He’s playing at a hitter-friendly stadium in Great American Ball Park, and he’s facing a journeyman starter in T.J. Zeuch, who just got lit up by the Mets in his season debut (six runs on six hits in four innings, including one home run).
Astros / White Sox (HOU @ CWS — Justin Verlander vs. Dylan Cease)
This matchup looks like a pitchers’ duel. Verlander has a Major League-leading 1.85 ERA and 0.860 WHIP this season. Cease has a 1.96 ERA, 174 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings and hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in his past 14 starts.
Orioles (at Blue Jays — Alek Manoah)
Manoah has a 2.56 ERA this season, including a 2.48 mark at Rogers Centre, where he also has a 0.857 WHIP and .200 batting average allowed.
