Pusha T has announced the release date for his new album: It’s Almost Dry, the long-awaited follow-up to the 2018 album Daytona, is out this Friday, April 22. See the album trailer below.

The new album will include Pusha T’s February single “Diet Coke,” which was co-produced by Kanye West and 88-Keys. The record also features the  Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams collaboration “Neck & Wrist.” It’s Almost Dry, according to a press release, is produced entire by West and Williams.

Pusha T has indicated that It’s Almost Dry is his final release for Def Jam Recordings; at the end of January, he posted photos of a signed contract to that end. The fulfillment also means that Pusha T now has full ownership of his master recordings. Steven Victor, Pusha T’s manager, confirmed to Complex that Pusha T remains a G.O.O.D. Music associate even though he’ll no longer be formally signed to Def Jam.

Pusha T also recently told Complex, “I’m on some one thousand percent rap superhero shit, man.” He noted that he spent the last couple years focusing on his family. “This era of Push is probably the most relaxed and competitive,” he said.

The rapper’s competitive streak has previously led to a back-and-forth diss track feud with Drake: Daytona’s “Infrared” garnered a response from Drake on the song “Duppy Freestyle.” Pusha T then concluded that series with “The Story of Adidon.” Drake later addressed the feud, saying he recorded and ultimately shelved a response. “I got home, listened back to it, and I was like, ‘Man, this is not something I ever want to be remembered for,’” he said.

Since releasing the Kanye West–produced Daytona in 2018, Pusha T has shared “No Problem,” “Sociopath,” “Coming Home,” and “Puppets (Succession Remix).” He’s also collaborated with Babyface Ray (“Dancing With the Devil”), Black Thought (“Good Morning”), Divine (“Jungle Mantra”), Mako (“Misfit Toys”), Swizz Beatz (“No Patience”), and others.

Pusha T launched his own label imprint—Heir Wave Media Group—at the beginning of 2020 as a way of supporting up-and-coming artists in and around the rapper’s home state of Virginia. In addition to his music career, he launched the Third Strike Coming Home Campaign—an effort to free those serving life in prison due to “3 Strikes” drug laws.
